House GOP Unanimously Passes Anti-Abortion Bill That Redefines Rape, Raises Taxes, And Creates Rape Audits
– Redefinition Of Rape: The bill sponsor Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ) faced serious backlash after he tried to narrow the definition rape to “forcible rape.” By narrowing the rape and incest exception in the Hyde Amendment, Smith sought to prevent the following situations from consideration: Women who say no but do not physically fight off the perpetrator, women who are drugged or verbally threatened and raped, and minors impregnated by adults.
Smith promised to remove the language and while it is not technically in the bill, Mother Jones reports that House Republicans used “a sly legislative maneuver” to insert a “backdoor reintroduction” of redefinition language. Essentially, if the bill is challenged in court, judges will look at the congressional committee report to determine intent.
– Tax Increase On Women And Small Businesses: H.R. 3 prevents women from using “itemized medical deductions, certain tax-advantaged health care accounts or tax credits included in last year’s health care law to pay for abortions or for health insurance plans that cover abortion.” In doing so, the bill forces women and small businesses that provide health insurance that covers abortion to pay more in taxes than they would otherwise. Both economic conservative Grover Norquist and the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce noted that the bill is basically a tax increase.
– Rape Audits: Because H.R. 3 bans using tax credits or deductions to pay for abortions or insurance, a woman who used such a benefit would have to prove, if audited, that her abortion “fell under the rape/incest/life-of-the-mother exception, or that the health insurance she had purchased did not cover abortions.” Essentially, the bill turns Internal Revenue Service agents into “abortion cops” who would force women to give “contemporaneous written documentation” that it was “incest, or rape, or [her] life was in danger” that compelled an abortion.

Placement, Framing, and how to make almost anything not matter - Media
1. In San Francisco, at an appearance by the President, some women (who paid for their lunch and entry) raised their hands and stood up to sing about Bradley Manning. To his credit, the president waited until they were finished (at which point, of course, they were escorted out - can't let them thar rabble rouser middle-class looking women be doin' that, y'all).
2. In the very next interview, after some very demeaning comments and glances between each of the female 'reporters' - CNN showed a short clip of a soldier on a surprise visit and his daughter meets him. Wonderful, tears, real.
Now on the face of it, it's not about much. But look at what is called the "framing" of the two items:
The network had to show the event because it involved the president. The 'reporter' dismissed it, at best, not just by words, but by rolling her eyes, making the appropriately "did they REALLY do THAT?" - all as if had been, somehow, an 'inappropriate' thing to do.
The fact that the item about the soldier and his teenaged daughter was placed immediately afterward and was appropriately gushed over (it is not to diminish their moment - I am only speaking of placement and tone and how things are spun) by the two women.
NOT ONCE - other than the passing comment ("They were there about Bradley Manning") - was the critical reality of Bradley Manning, his situation, the allegations of torture, why he was being held the way he was, etc., etc. - was ANYTHING mentioned. Nope - the only thing that was REALLY important was the soldier and his daughter; thereby eliminating, dismissing, and diminishing Bradley Manning and these women (whom by the way stayed totally within the law, were respectful, and were on key) as so much poop.
DON'T JUST WATCH THE WORDS.
WATCH HOW THINGS AND EVENTS ARE 'FRAMED.'
WATCH THE BODY LANGUAGE AND THE EYE MOVEMENT.
AND IF YOU THINK THESE ARE NOT PLANNED OR THOUGHT THROUGH, WELL OKAY, BELIEVE WHAT YOU WANT.
The truth speaks otherwise.

Rick Santorum on his campaign slogan
Listen and watch as he responds to a question asked about his "new slogan" coming
from a poem of Langston Hughes, who was gay.
This is the same poophead who believes that "it won't hurt Senior Citizens to suffer" - and that
he can't understand why when "Social" Security is discussed, the current recipients are not also
on the chopping block.
Yep. This one is not only stoooooopid, he's dangerous, and he does not care.
The Truth About GOP Hero Ayn Rand
She is anti-religion and anti-Altruism and Love (Jesus and she would have
had some disagreements, I believe - but she'd have seen him as 'weak.')
She reminds me a bit of Joan Crawford in her role in "What Ever Happened to
Baby Jane." If this is their guru, no wonder so many are socipathic sounding.

Iowa Woman Jailed for Thinking about an Abortion
***************************
Snippet from article:
Sounds far-fetched, right? Well it isn't. The anti-choice zealots aren't content to limiting a woman's access to safe and legal abortion, they're now thought police:
Ms. Taylor became light-headed and fell down a flight of stairs in her home. Paramedics rushed to the scene and ultimately declared her healthy. However, since she was pregnant with her third child at the time, Taylor thought it would be best to be seen at the local ER to make sure her fetus was unharmed.Yes, as if Ms. Taylor's existing problems weren't enough, the anti-choice zealots got her jailed for 2 days for thinking of having an abortion, even though she voluntarily went to the ER to assure the health of her fetus. Funny how "pro-lifers" have never met a victim they don't want to punish. After three weeks, the District Attorney declined to prosecute, but not because of the obvious encroachment on a woman's right to choose (similar laws for which this woman was held exist in 37 states), but because she was only in her second trimester, and not third when she fell. No I'm not making this up, and unfortunately Ms. Taylor isn't alone:That's when things got really bad and really crazy. Alone, distraught, and frightened, Taylor confided in the nurse treating her that she hadn't always been sure she'd wanted this baby, now that she was single and unemployed. She'd considered both adoption and abortion before ultimately deciding to keep the child. The nurse then summoned a doctor, who questioned her further about her thoughts on ending the pregnancy. Next thing Taylor knew, she was being arrested for attempted feticide. Apparently the nurse and doctor thought that Taylor threw herself down the stairs on purpose.
Last March, Florida resident Samantha Burton was in week 25 of her pregnancy when she paid a visit to her doctor. Burton was showing signs of potential miscarriage, so her physician ordered bed rest. Burton explained that, as a working mother of two toddlers, bed rest simply wasn't a viable option and then proceeded to ask for a second medical opinion. Seems reasonable, right? Her doctor, however, was having none of that. Rather than refer Burton for the desired second opinion, he instead felt it necessary to contact state authorities, who then proceeded to force Burton to be admitted to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital against her will and undergo any procedure the doctor felt like prescribing. When Burton had the audacity to request a change in the hospital in which she was being treated, the court denied her request. Three days into her forced hospitalization, Burton miscarried.
Flashpoint in Salt Lake City: One Man Takes a Stand
A snippet from the article:
I met Tim DeChristopher at the Pricing Carbon Conference in Middletown, CT, last November. I was on a shuttle bus, waiting to head over to the Wesleyan campus for the morning session, when he walked on. He was just 28 years old–but I was awed.
I had seen Tim on Democracy Now and had been so inspired by his courage and clarity of purpose. In the waning days of the Bush administration, Tim, a University of Utah economics major and former wilderness guide, bid on and won nearly $1.8 million worth of federal oil and gas leases before confessing to federal agents that he had no intention of or ability to pay for them. Tim was charged with two felonies—interfering with an auction and making false statements on bidding forms. He faces a maximum of 10 years in prison and $750,000 in fines if convicted.Tim prevented the sale of thousands of acres of pristine Utah land that were being auctioned off by the Bureau of Land Management at bargain bin prices as a gift from the Bush administration to the oil industry. The defense is scheduled to rest this afternoon and place the case in the jury’s hands, just three days after the trial began.
GOP candidate wants Hispanic farmworkers deported & replaced with Inner City Blacks bused in to do the work
A Republican candidate running for Rep. Chris "Craigslist" Lee's seat in upstate New York isn't doing his scandalized party any favors. Jack Davis, a local businessman vying for the seat, shocked local GOP leaders by suggesting that the area's Hispanic farmworkers should be deported, and that inner city blacks should be bused in to pick the crops instead, as The Buffalo News reports.
Davis made the comments during a February 20 endorsement interview with local Republican Party leaders—and it's not the first time he's floated the idea.

Cost of War - no money for education, helping living little ones, not allowing
our wisdom elders to live the last session of their life experience with some independence and 100% dignity; and so much more. The only reason our (We the People) resources are 'scarce' is that they are being used up - our loved ones, as well, being used up as one of those 'resources' - expendables - sacrifices on the Altar of Greed.
We are spun, lied to, mis and dis informationed, as pablum is served up on the TV from Talking Heads and Reality Shows hosts/players; looking just like little bobbin'-headed dolls in the back of the car, looking out the window at the masses who hang on their every word and smilin' - because the only difference between them and the expendables is that they know they're being spun. It's like double-think. You carry a set of contradictory beliefs at the same time, in order to maintain your rung on the ladder
Of what?
Watched a bio on Johnny Cash tonight. Oh man, Kris Kristofferson is aging in a way that still makes me go, 'Oooh yes...' And then Willie...and Waylon. Steve Earle, a new favorite... and sure, Merle Haggard. Say it like it is, bros.
Commonalities:
a/ they know they're in a human experience. That means, by default, not perfect - by any stretch of the imagination. No one is. Fact. Anyone says different, they're hidin' something. These guys lived it. I'd rather be like and around these kinds of guys than anyone who goes around judging other humans, as if he were something gifted by his god to bring benefit to the rest of us.
b/ they have/had fun - they enjoyed Life. (nothing else to say to that.)
c/ they stood up. Watch the bio if you don't know what any of them stand/stood for. Snoop Dog is a fan of Cash's, and he's cool too...you gotta realize no one's perfect.
All of the above men (and there are plenty of women and other men who are this - everyday people being/doing extraordinary things) understood what the Spirit of being fully Human is.
It is the realization, awareness, and action emanating from We are All One - one with the God/Force of our understanding, and
ONE
WITH
EACH
OTHER. (special for severe Christians, bless your hearts: Jesus said.)
Yep. Outlaws; they didn't have much time for the State, but they love/d their country. They spoke their mind. Let each of us speak ours - even when our voice shakes.
And bring back the old songs and create new ones in a new way. Bring food. Let's dance.
C'mon Sing. The Universe hears you in key, man.
Food and Conversation.
Don't even have to talk to each other. Until you want to say how good the food is
Point of conversation.
There's a way.
If there's not, then get to co-creating one.
Because
We are being used to keep growing an unsustainable worldwide war and arms economy
We are Consumers and the health and survival of this brave, red/white and blue nation
Depends on us SPENDING.
not SAVING?
Get outta Dodge with that padoodah poop.
So for whom are We the People, We the Consumer, We the Expendables
(because remember, know any great jobs much left here, except lower-level and whatever jobs it takes to maintain the entities comprising the 6-6-6 Greed Group?)
SPENDING? If 'Consumer Spending' is necessary to keep our system going, then
a/ it's stupid and a lie a psych a spin a patriotic myth; and
b/ we are in deep doo doo.
C/ But the 6-6-6 Greed Group Antichrists will benefit and laugh at the Expendable, Interchangeable, One-Size-Fits-All, patriotic-spun-son, as they continue to make and market arms to sell to the world (can you say Qhadaffi?), then work themselves like the guy on TV with the shakin' weigh as they watch others play their Warrior Game die from it - or worse.
It's time to co-create Peace.
Definitely not for Wusses.
Blessed are the PeaceMAKERS for THEY shall be called the Children of God/Force/Life.
Let's rock.
That's it - from the For What it's Worth department. Don't have to agree, although you can. Don't even have to understand it, and you can dismiss it. Unless you don't :-)
