Beauty and the Geezer
Okay, so can anyone tell me what Senator McCain was really thinking?
He's 72.
She has NO experience in much of anything.
The chances of him headin' Home (if you get my drift) are much greater than anyone that's run since Reagan.
Do I REALLY want this gal running the strongest, most powerful, singular superpower in the planet???
I DON'T THINK SO.
I could have understood ANY of the picks he might have made - including Mike Huckabee (whom I really liked).
But, nope.
Can't do.
Won't take the chance. I don't care what she's anti....I'm anti-amateur. Obama has tons more experience by comparison.
And he has no ethics cloud over him.
And Joe Biden has complimentary experience and skills.
What skills does this gal have?
Oh, let's see...mayor of a tiny town in the outback of Alaska?
and just now governor of the state?
NO even awareness of foreign policy?
Her credentials include Beauty Queen?
Wow.
God help us.

This is an excellent piece. I wasn't even aware of who Ms. Clarke was - or that she now works for ABC. Things that make you go hmmmm...don't know I'll ever trust another "Military Expert" again.
Ms. Clarke certainly seems to know her stuff - 'stuff' would be how best to manipulate a/what we see; b/what we hear; c/from whom we hear it; how to manipulate it all so that we (the dumbed-down, buy-it-now consumer, no-longer-citizen) believe every word.

Why is the press ignoring this hate-monger?

More than a week after John McCain’s endorsement by the anti-Catholic, anti-Semitic pastor John Hagee, the media continues to give the GOP nominee a free pass.
Consider the following pronouncements by Hagee, the man who McCain proudly introduced as an ally last week.
On Jews:
It was the disobedience and rebellion of the Jews, God’s chosen people, to their covenantal responsibility to serve only the one true God, Jehovah, that gave rise to the opposition and persecution that they experienced beginning in Canaan and continuing to this very day.
And:
How utterly repulsive, insulting, and heartbreaking to God for his chosen people to credit idols with bringing blessings he had showered upon the chosen people. Their own rebellion had birthed the seed of anti-Semitism that would arise and bring destruction to them for centuries to come.
On gays:
All hurricanes are acts of God, because God controls the heavens. I believe that New Orleans had a level of sin that was offensive to God, and they are — were recipients of the judgment of God for that. The newspaper carried the story in our local area that was not carried nationally that there was to be a homosexual parade there on the Monday that the Katrina came. And the promise of that parade was that it was going to reach a level of sexuality never demonstrated before in any of the other Gay Pride parades. So I believe that the judgment of God is a very real thing. I know that there are people who demur from that, but I believe that the Bible teaches that when you violate the law of God, that God brings punishment sometimes before the day of judgment. And I believe that the Hurricane Katrina was, in fact, the judgment of God against the city of New Orleans.
Hagee, of course, is also a virulent anti-Catholic, who has suggested that the pope is the anti-Christ, and that Adolf Hitler’s anti-Semitism was the result of being educated at a Catholic school.
One would think that when a leading presidential candidate proudly touts the support of such a figure, the issue would receive close scrutiny from the press. But last week, once McCain assured reporters that, just because Hagee was endorsing him, it didn’t mean he agreed with everything Hagee said, the mainstream media essentially let the matter drop. Chalk another up for the Straight-Talking candidate.
That’s all the more remarkable given the high-profile grilling Barack Obama has received on the subject of Louis Farrakhan. In a recent Democratic debate, Tim Russert asked Obama to reject Farrakhan’s support. And in January, Washington Post columnist Richard Cohen drew attention to the fact that a magazine controlled by Obama’s pastor had given an award to the Nation of Islam founder.
But so far, neither Russert nor anyone else at NBC News has seen fit to press McCain on the subject, and Cohen hasn’t chosen to write about it. And remember, Obama did nothing to solicit Farrakhan’s support, while McCain actively sought Hagee’s and appeared on stage with him.
We’ve asked both NBC News and Cohen whether they plan to, given their concern about Obama’s Farrakhan “ties,” and will let you know what we hear.

Columbia and the Strangeness of it all...
I find it so very strange...as I was listening to Lou Dobbs the other night - a presenter I find very interesting and with whom I often agree - to a degree - was berating a government official about the lack of a fence, the slowness of government (a surprise?) and the fact that Mexico was the main conduit for drugs coming into the U.S.
The gentleman made a valiant effort to talk, to no avail. Lou was determined to talk him down and so he did.

I urge you to please read this speech in its entirety - without the entertainment News Presenters (they're certainly not reporters in the true sense of the word - watch some Walter Cronkite or Edward R. Murrow or Bill Moyers) - incessant voices, with their snide little remarks geared to a specific 'spin' on the article depending on which managed news channel or station to which you turn.
For me, this is a speech with Truth, Honesty and Courage. Our beloved country is at a crossroads...at a time of major crises on many fronts - brought on by forces of which you might already know much - and if you don't...if you just listen to sound bites and op pieces from the shouting, grinning, made-up faces of the minions of major media...then by all means don't read this well-done and courageous speech.
Go sit down, turn on American Idol, then go shopping...Peace. Be the Courage.

And what is going on with SIGNING STATEMENTS anyway!?
Can someone please explain to me how it's constitutional - not to mention ethical, moral, etc. - to have Congress pass legislation legally and in the open where we can see it has happened...only to have the President add a signing statement to it that says "I don't have to do this if I don't wanna..." ???
Did the founding fathers have that in the Constitution or the Bill of Rights?
